8 Things to Do In Salt Lake City, Utah

Introduction

Salt Lake City is one of the best cities I’ve been to in the US. The entire place is surrounded by mountains, everyone is nice, and it’s spacious. State street is the Main Street that can take you from one side of the city to the other in a matter for 30 minutes. I definetly recommend coming here at least once in your life. Here is a website that tells you about all the things going on in Salt Lake City. Here are my recommendations:

1. Hiking

Hiking Is huge here. The first hike we went on was the Living Room Trail. This hike is 2.5 miles and moderate difficulty. The reason it’s called the living room trail is because at the end, there are little rock couches and chairs. I didn’t end up taking a picture but you can kind of see a guy sitting on one on the right of the picture above.

We got a little lost coming back down but thank goodness the trail we fell upon took us to the same ending spot. Make sure to pay attention the entire way!

The second hike was Lower Bells Canyon.

This one was particularly breathtaking because it had snowed the day before. It’s also moderate and only 1.5 miles! It was rocky and a little slippery but it was all worth it. We didn’t have time to go any further but if we did there is supposed to be an amazing waterfall a little further up!

Those were the only hikes we went on since I was only there for 4 days but here are many more you can check out!

2. Family Search Library

The Family Search Library was probably the coolest thing I did in Salt Lake City. It’s the largest genealogy Library in the world where you can find your entire family tree. And here’s the best part: it’s 100% free!

Walking in, a librarian comes right up to you and asks if you’ve ever been there. After saying no, they pull over a chair to the computers and do the entire thing with you.

The only information you need is your parents and grandparents date of birth and, if they have died, the death date and where it took place. If you have your great great grandparents information that’s great too. The more information the better.

My parents had used ancestry.com to see their family tree but it’s nothing compared to what this place can tell you. My family tree went back 9 generations! Ancestory went back about 5. The oldest record of my family was back in 1724. It told me about my ancestors from Ireland, Bohemia, and Germany and the cities they were born and died in! My friend’s dated back to the late 1400’s!

The librarian is there every step of the way and, although you can access this website without being in there, some of the information is only available in the library. They also print out your whole tree for free as well!

If you get the chance to go through Salt Lake City, you HAVE to come here. You won’t regret it.

3. Visit the Mormon Temple

You can’t visit Utah and NOT go to the Mormon Temple. It’s beautiful and talk to someone working in church! They will teach you everything you don’t know about the mormon religion!

4. High school Musical

If you were a High School Musical fan, you have to check this out! Although it’s a real high school, you can drive past and take a picture or two. Nothing too exciting but might as well see it if you’re in town.

5. Swig

Since Utah isn’t the place for drinking alcohol, an alternative the city uses is a soda shop called Swig. I’m not a huge soda drinker but if you’re looking for a pick me up and want to try some super cool flavors of soda, this is the place to go! I did end up getting a coke with coconut and pineapple called the Waikiki! Interesting but very good!

6. Plated Dreams

We didn’t eat at that many places while we were there but Plated Dreams was one of the best cafes I’ve been to! If you’re looking for a nice place to treat your girlfriend, or just finding a brunch with sweet treats, this is it!

I don’t usually do sweets to start my day but I decided to splurdge and get the ‘Better than Sex Crepes.’It was a Dulce De Leche Crepe with bananas inside and heath bar and raspberries all over it. I don’t know if it was better than sex but it was pretty damn close.

Plated Dreams does not take reservations but even as a first come first serve basis we only had to wait about 10 minutes on a Sunday morning. If you want to check it out you can see it here.

7. Dream Scape

If you end up going to Salt Lake City on a rainy day and happen to love art, Dream Scape is the place to go! This is an immersive art exhibit and probably the coolest one I’ve been in. This art show is all from local artist and everything is recycled. What’s not to love about that? 10/10 recommend!

8. Up House

Up was my favorite movie of all time so I had to come see this house. It looks exactly like the house in the movie so if you have a few minutes, go see it! People do actually live in it so they ask that you come during respectable hours!

Other Things you can do!

I only had about 4 days so I couldn’t fit very many adventures in. I would never recommend something I’ve never done but what I hear, these are some other things you can do while in Salt Lake City:

I’ve been browsing online more than 3 hours
today, yet I never found any interesting article like yours.
It is pretty worth enough for me. Personally, if all web owners and bloggers made good content
as you did, the internet will be much more useful than ever before.
