About

Keeley is my name but the Lady in Red is who I am. 1 year ago blood clots went through a hole in my heart and shot to my brain causing 2 strokes and right side paralysis, all while in a red sweater. The paralysis went away in about 2 hours but the effects changed my life forever. I’m here for a reason and I can’t wait for you to come with me on my journey to find out why…

After my stroke, I spent three days in the hospital. Since I had a sprained ankle, a nurse wheeled me over to the bathroom. He started singing, “Ladyyy innn Reddd… Mmmhmm.” It made me laugh for the first time since my since my stroke.

While in the bathroom, I stared at myself in the mirror. There was no bubbly, fun, kind hearted perfectionist staring back at me. There was a girl who had been through hell and back. A girl who had blood shot eyes, greasy hair, black circles under her eyes, someone who now had brain damage, and of course my snot soaked red sweater. But as the nurse outside the bathroom was STILL singing, I saw someone else. I saw a woman who was still standing. A woman who could still laugh through all she’d been through. A woman who was seen, heard. The strongest woman at her weakest point. The true Lady in Red.

Red signifies passion, courage, warmth, danger, and love. It tells you something big is about to happen. It’s the color you don’t double take but stare at.. and I’ve noticed that whenever I wear it, I’m seen.

Some people have one stroke and it kills them or leaves them in a vegetative state. I had three strokes and can walk, talk, dance, and everything in between. I’ll never truly know why I’m so lucky to have this amazing opportunity of life, but I will spend every day for the rest of my life figuring it out.

I have a reason to be here: to share my story and to hear other women’s stories. I’m here to have YOU be seen and heard. Because everyone has a story to tell and it’s time to share the passionate, courageous, dangerous, loving you.

Soon, I want to start fundraisers and events to raise money to help pay for women’s hospital bills, therapy, and necessities but for now, I want to hear the story on what made you, you.

Share your story HERE.

This is my full detailed story if you’d like to read it.
